Nestled between numerous rivers and surrounded by the Black and Blue ranges is the picturesque town of Alexandra. Within a lazy 2 hours dirve from the CBD of Melbourne the lifestyle Alexandra offers is envied by many. Alexandra was once a bustling gold mining town where fortunes were made in the surrounding countryside.
Renowned as a tourist destination, Alexandra has many attractions including Lake Eildon for water skiing and fishing, Lake Mountain for its snow play and cross country skiing, The Great Victorian Rail Trail which will take you all the way to Mansfield and Seymour. On the Queen’s Birthday weekend Alexandra’s population increases to a massive 15,000 people for the annual Truck Ute & Rod Show.
The gold has since gone but the town with friendly locals continues to thrive. Many locals enjoy the areas’ attractions including riding the trail on either bikes or horse, water and snow skiing, fishing on Eildon Weir all year around or perhaps a coffee and lunch at one of the scrumptious cafes or hotels.
Come and have a look around you might find it very hard to leave.
